This presentation of common musculo-skeletal problems has been prepared by

Mr Hammer has trained as a General Surgeon and as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. In doing so he has gained a wide experience of traumatic and non-traumatic conditions in both these fields of surgery.
In his present Orthopaedic practice his interests centre around all forms of musculo-skeletal injury and, in particular, degenerative conditions of the spine and of the lower limb.
His research interests centre around the hip joint and the spine and he has several scientific publications in these areas. He has also presented at International congresses, mainly on spinal conditions. In line with his teaching interest, he has published "Essentials of the Orthopaedic Examination" a small book designed to assist medical students and junior doctors while examing 'orthopaedic' patients on the wards.
